Tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy in a nonagenarian.

by inflammation of the branches of the external carotid. Several diseases, including other vasculitis, atheromatous or embolic arterial occlusion, systemic amyloidosis, temporomandibular joint abnormalities as observed in rheumatoid arthritis, myasthenia gravis or myositis, and parotid or temporal tumors, may infrequently cause or mimic jaw claudication. Our observation suggests that acute aortic dissection should also be considered as a potential alternative diagnosis in elderly patients with acute-onset jaw claudication, especially when an inflammatory pattern is absent.

Management of tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy due to atrial flutter.
I read with interest the article by David et al. regarding a case of recurrent tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy secondary to typical atrial flutter. I have some concerns regarding the management of the recurrences of atrial flutter and tachycardiainduced cardiomyopathy in this case. The authors’ choice of treatment involved DC cardioversion of the atrial flutter that was successful in restori...
متن کاملImprovement of cardiac function and neurological remodeling in a patient with tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy after catheter ablation.
Incessant ventricular tachycardia and long-standing ectopic beats lead to tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy. Catheter ablation eliminates ventricular tachycardia and reverses left ventricular (LV) dysfunction. 201-Thallium ((201)Tl) scintigraphy demonstrates perfusion defects with ischemic cardiomyopathy. Reversible perfusion defects are observed even in non-ischemic cardiomyopathy, related to...
متن کاملHeart failure and sudden death in patients with tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy and recurrent tachycardia.
BACKGROUND Tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy is a reversible cause of heart failure. We hypothesized that although left ventricular ejection fraction measurements normalize after heart rate or rhythm control in patients with tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy, recurrent tachycardia may have abrupt and deleterious consequences. METHODS AND RESULTS Patients with tachycardia-induced cardiomyopa...
متن کاملAtrial fibrillation-related cardiomyopathy: a case report
Sustained chronic tachyarrhythmias often cause a deterioration of cardiac function known as tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy or tachycardiomyopathy. The incidence of tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy is unknown, but in selected studies of patients with atrial fibrillation, approximately 25% to 50% of those with left ventricular dysfunction had some degree of tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy...
متن کاملTachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy
BACKGROUND Tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy (TIC) is a rare cause of dilated cardiomyopathy (DCMP). The diagnosis can be missed because tachycardia is a common symptom in DCMP. CASE REPORT We reviewed a case 5-year-old with palpitation and dyspnea with symptoms and signs of heart failure that diagnosed as DCMP initially. Then, in the evaluation for cause of tachycardia, atrial tachycardia w...
